How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Maintenance Electrician - Southampton

Salary: circa £39000 including standby payments

    40 Hours | Door-to-Door Travel Paid | 1 in 4 Call-Out

    Company Vehicle with Private Use

A well-established facilities management provider is looking for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join its mobile engineering team in Southampton.
The position covers a portfolio of retail sites, giving you plenty of variety rather than being based at one location. You'll be responsible for planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding and general building maintenance, while also supporting the wider engineering team when required.

    The Role

You'll help keep a number of busy retail sites operating safely and efficiently, carrying out scheduled PPMs alongside reactive repairs and minor maintenance works.
    Typical duties will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical repairs.
    Electrical fault finding and diagnosis.
Completing minor electrical installation, repair and maintenance works.
Working on electrical plant, equipment and associated building services.
Supporting other engineers with larger maintenance projects when required.
Attending reactive call-outs as part of a 1 in 4 rota.
Completing PPMs and reactive jobs within agreed timescales.
Updating maintenance records and job information accurately on the Mercury system.
Travelling between sites across the Southampton area when required.
Working closely with clients, site teams and other engineers.
Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety and quality standards.
The role would suit an electrician who is comfortable working independently, enjoys a varied workload and has previous experience within a commercial, retail or facilities maintenance environment.

    Qualifications & Experience

NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or Electrical Maintenance, or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship.
17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Previous commercial maintenance or facilities management experience.
Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance skills.
    Full UK driving licence.

    Salary & Package

    £39,115 including standby payments
    40-hour working week
    Door-to-door travel paid
    1 in 4 call-out rota
    Overtime: 1.5x Monday-Friday / 2x weekends
    Company vehicle with private use
    Private healthcare
    33 days holiday
    Life insurance
    Ongoing training and development
This is a good opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Electrician looking for a varied mobile role, strong overall package and long-term progression within an established facilities management environment.
