How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Role: Facilities Engineer (Electrical Bias)
    Location: Northampton
    Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
    Hours: Monday to Friday, Days

    The Role
    We are seeking an electrically biased Facilities Engineer to support the maintenance, reliability, and performance of critical site facilities and utilities. This position will suit an engineer with strong electrical fault-finding experience and exposure to building services systems such as HVAC, compressed air systems, boilers, pumps, fire protection equipment, and BMS controls. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of site infrastructure while driving continuous improvement and preventative maintenance initiatives.

    The Responsibilities

    Ensure all safety systems and procedures are followed, promoting a proactive safety culture across the site
    Carry out electrical fault finding, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs across facilities and utilities equipment
    Support the safe operation and maintenance of critical site services including HVAC systems, compressed air systems, boilers, pumps, BMS controls, and fire protection systems
    Identify and manage reliability risks that could impact operational performance
    Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance strategies to maximise equipment uptime
    Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to improve plant reliability and efficiency
    Support reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and total productive maintenance (TPM) initiatives
    Conduct root cause analysis and support FMECA activities to reduce recurring equipment failures
    Monitor equipment performance, analyse trends, and recommend continuous improvement opportunities
    Prepare maintenance reports and technical documentation using CMMS systems
    Contribute to capital projects and ensure reliability is considered within new installations and upgrades
    Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed to the highest standards
    The Requirements

    Strong commitment to health and safety with the ability to identify and mitigate risks
    Electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)
    Proven experience within a Facilities Engineer, Building Services Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Site Services Engineer or similar role
    Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting experience within an industrial, manufacturing, commercial or facilities environment
    Experience working on facilities plant and utilities systems such as HVAC, compressed air systems, pumps, boilers, BMS controls, fire protection systems and electrical distribution equipment
    Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and control diagrams
    Knowledge of mechanical building services and facilities infrastructure would be advantageous
    Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems, with SAP experience highly desirable
    18th Edition qualification would be advantageous
