How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Tendering Engineer
    Ipswich, Suffolk | Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Tendering Engineer to join an established engineering business based in Ipswich.
This is a newly created opportunity to join a growing business, supporting the delivery of high-value generator and power generation projects across a range of sectors.

    The Role
    *
Manage the tendering process for bespoke generator and power generation projects.
    *
Review customer specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
    *
Identify project requirements, potential risks and commercial considerations.
    *
Liaise with Engineering, Procurement and Sales teams to obtain costs, technical information and lead times.
    *
Produce detailed quotations, cost estimates, pricing schedules and technical proposals.
    *
Ensure tenders are accurate, competitive and commercially viable.
    *
Manage multiple tenders and deadlines at the same time.
    *
Deal with customer queries and post-tender clarification.
    *
Assist with negotiations and the successful handover of projects.
    *
Maintain accurate tender records and supporting documentation.
    *
Provide updates to management on tender activity and opportunities.
    About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a tendering, estimating, applications engineering or technical sales environment.
    You should have:
    *
Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
    *
Strong technical understanding of engineered products or systems.
    *
The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
    *
Good commercial awareness and an understanding of costs and margins.
    *
Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills.
    *
    Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    *
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    *
    Good Microsoft Office skills.
    *
A proactive approach and the confidence to work with different departments.
Experience within power generation, generators, electro-mechanical equipment or rotating equipment would be advantageous, although candidates with a strong engineering background from a related sector will also be considered.
    The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded and commercially aware engineer to join a specialist engineering business and play an important role in the growth of its tendering function.
You will have the opportunity to work on technically interesting projects across industrial, infrastructure, marine and defence markets, with genuine scope for long-term career development.
