How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commissioning Manager – Water / MEICA

    Location: Hampshire
    Project: Havant Thicket Reservoir
    Contract: Permanent
    Sector: Water Infrastructure / Water Treatment

    About the Role:

    Gearing Recruitment Solutions are currently looking for an experienced Commissioning Manager on behalf of our client, to play a key role in the delivery of the Havant Thicket Reservoir project.

    This is a major water infrastructure project requiring an experienced commissioning professional to lead and coordinate commissioning activities, with a particular focus on MEICA, water treatment and process commissioning.

    The successful candidate will ensure commissioning activities are planned and delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, quality, environmental and contractual requirements. You will work closely with construction teams, subcontractors, suppliers, client representatives and water operations teams through to successful handover.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Lead and manage commissioning activities across the Havant Thicket Reservoir project, including the process commissioning of water treatment plant at Farlington Water Treatment Works.

    * Plan and coordinate the installation, commissioning, training and handover of MEICA systems, working closely with construction teams and water operations.

    * Develop and coordinate commissioning programmes with subcontractors, planners and the project quality team.

    * Undertake process evaluation trials, plant acceptance and takeover demonstrations, recording performance and quality data and producing the required reports.

    * Liaise with client representatives, vendors and suppliers to agree operating modes, resolve technical issues and ensure equipment is correctly commissioned.

    * Manage and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), ensuring agreed procedures are followed and actions are successfully closed out.

    * Review commissioning documentation including FDS, Test Plans, I/O Schedules, System Architecture, Software Application Revisions and Commissioning Packs.

    * Coordinate with site teams to plan commissioning works and any required outages, ensuring activities are delivered safely and efficiently.

    * Support the training of client personnel in the operation of newly installed assets and complete all commissioning and performance documentation.

    * Ensure commissioning activities comply with project procedures, health and safety requirements, environmental requirements and relevant consents, including water discharge requirements.

    * Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, proactively identifying programme, technical, commercial, safety and quality issues.

    * Ensure the successful commissioning, completion and handover of plant in accordance with the agreed project programme.

    About You:

    We are looking for a Commissioning Manager with a strong background in water treatment, water supply and process commissioning, ideally gained within a contractor-led, design and build environment.

    You will ideally have:

    * Proven experience delivering process commissioning within the water industry or a related sector, with strong technical knowledge of water treatment and supply systems.

    * Experience working for a contractor on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within a design and build environment.

    * Experience commissioning MEICA assets and systems, including coordinating subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.

    * Knowledge of commissioning documentation, FATs, test plans, FDS, I/O schedules and system architecture.

    * Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

    * Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with experience using Common Data Environments such as BIM 360 advantageous.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple project teams.

    * A full UK driving licence.

    Qualifications:

    * HNC/HND or Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related discipline.

    * CSCS Manager-level or academically qualified card.

    * Knowledge of CDM Regulations.

    * IOSH, NEBOSH or other relevant Health & Safety qualifications would be advantageous.
