How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Controls Software Engineer

BMS | Charging | Inverter & Motor Control

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Controls Software Engineer to join an innovative automotive engineering team developing advanced electrification and control technologies for both prototype and production vehicle programmes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of inverter and motor control, battery management, and vehicle charging software. You will be involved from the early stages of requirements and software architecture through to implementation, testing, calibration, vehicle integration, and problem resolution.

As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical direction and support to less experienced engineers, while working closely with customers, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines.

    What You'll Be Doing

Lead the technical delivery of application-level controls and software activities.

Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to junior members of the engineering team.

Define, develop, and maintain software requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Contribute to the definition of software architecture and technical solutions.

Develop and validate control software using model-based development techniques.

Participate in prototype vehicle builds, commissioning, calibration, and development testing.

Investigate software and system-level problems, identifying root causes and supporting effective solutions.

Assist with the identification and resolution of integration challenges between powertrain products and wider vehicle systems.

Provide clear technical updates on project progress, risks, issues, and deliverables.

Work directly with customers and represent the software engineering function during technical discussions and development activities.

Contribute to project planning, resource estimation, and technical delivery.

    What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in automotive controls and embedded software.

    You should have:

A degree or equivalent qualification in Software Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

5+ years of relevant automotive industry experience working with control systems.

    * Practical experience in one or more of:

    * Electric motor and inverter control

    * Battery Management Systems (BMS)

    * DC and AC vehicle charging

Experience diagnosing and resolving faults within complex automotive powertrain systems.

A sound understanding of electrical and electronic systems and circuits.

Experience working directly with customers and a willingness to travel to customer, development, or test sites when required.

Strong practical experience with the MATLAB/Simulink development environment.

Experience using CAN-based development, calibration, and diagnostic tools such as CANape, INCA, or CANalyzer.

Competence with standard Microsoft Office applications.

An understanding of how application software interfaces with underlying/base software.

Experience with software debugging and diagnostic techniques.

    Knowledge of C programming.

    What You'll Bring

Beyond your technical expertise, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively and taking ownership of challenging engineering problems.

We're looking for an individual who is:

    * Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working independently.

    * Naturally curious and motivated to understand and solve complex technical issues.

    * Comfortable taking ownership of tasks and making sound engineering decisions.

    * Able to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and deliverables.

    * A strong communicator who can explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    * Confident presenting technical information to customers and project stakeholders.

    * Organised, analytical, and methodical in your approach.

    * Keen to share knowledge and help develop the engineers around you.

    Why Join?

This role provides the opportunity to work at the forefront of automotive electrification and powertrain control, contributing to the development of sophisticated software for real-world vehicle applications.

You will have the chance to work across the complete development process — from defining requirements and designing control strategies through to software implementation, vehicle testing, calibration, and final system integration
