How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Andy File Associates Limited are working as a recruitment agency on behalf of our client with regards this permanent vacancy.
    Salary: £31,000
    Hours: 7am - 4pm
    Key Accountabilities:
    Ensure load is safe and secure and loaded in appropriate order for drops
    * Check to ensure safe distribution of load.
    * Strap, secure and sheet load correctly before any journey commences.
    Carry out vehicle maintenance checks and ensure vehicle is roadworthy
    * Complete defect forms and hand in daily.
    * Keep vehicle clean and tidy.
    * Ensure any defects identified are corrected without any undue delay.
    Always drive in a safe manner and adhere to current driving legislation
    * Plan breaks to maximise use of driver’s hours.
    * Understand and stay abreast of changes to the highway code, the working time directive and the requirement of drivers’ hours.
    * Always check tacho is in the right mode and hand in regularly.
    * Respond to any issues raised from tachograph reviews.
    Make deliveries efficiently ensuring customers’ requirements are met and deal with any problems as they arise
    * Plan route to meet customer requirements and make drops in the most efficient way.
    * Communicate any delays or problems that affect the expected delivery performance or overall customer service.
    * Ensure vehicle is positioned in the most suitable and easiest way for the customer to offload.
    * Assist with the unloading process in line with customer’s health and safety requirements.
    * Ensure correct documents are available and passed to the customer on arrival.
    * Make decisions, sort out problems.
    * Ensure all deliveries are completed; subject to legal guidelines.
    * Ensure all paperwork is signed, printed and dated as receipt of delivery.
    * Gather customer information and feedback to warehouse manager/sales.
    * When necessary, re-fuel vehicle.
    On completion of drops return to Service Centre as soon as possible to make yourself available for other work
    * Ensure all delivery paperwork is distributed correctly.
    * Deal with any material brought back.
    * Straighten/tidy wagon when deliveries completed for the day.
    * Help out in the warehouse/do additional deliveries if appropriate.
    Work to systems and procedures so that material is off-loaded and distributed in the most efficient and cost-effective way
    * Follow and apply the established systems and procedures (i.e. loading vehicles, lorries & delivering metal).
    * Follow all aspects of security procedures.
    * Liaise with appropriate service centre personnel if likely to be any problems with a delivery.
    * Work within the Service Centre Quality Assurance procedures.
    * Take part in periodic stock checks.
    Work in a safe manner, always adhering to the Company Health and Safety Policy and Safe Working Practices
    Work within the Safe Working practises for ‘Lorries & Delivering Metal’.
    Maintain housekeeping standards regularly cleaning and tidying the vehicle and removing trip hazards.
    Ensure the load remains safe throughout the delivery process.
    Always wear any PPE provided.
    Ensure others follow health and safety procedures, communicating any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions.
    Undertake all tasks with a ‘customer service, ‘can do’ attitude’ and contribute to improving the performance of the business and the profit share pot
    Respond positively to change.
    Be positive and supportive to colleagues.
    Be courteous to customers and other road users.
    Handle any potential customer conflict positively.
    Be flexible by undertaking additional duties where needed.
    Continually develop your personal skills and knowledge.
    Undertake the required number of hours training for CPC.
    Positively participate in appraisals and drivers’ meetings.
    Help with the training and development of others.
    Take pride is all aspects of you work and use your initiative to solve problems.
    Identify better ways of doing things and suggest improvements to the line manager
