How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    1:1 Support Assistant

    Location: Newcastle
    Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

    A welcoming and supportive school in Newcastle is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant to join their team. This 1:1 Support Assistant role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people by providing tailored, consistent and individualised support.

    The successful 1:1 Support Assistant will work closely with a pupil who requires additional support with their learning, engagement, behaviour and personal development. As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you will build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities of the 1:1 Support Assistant:

    Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.

    Supporting the pupil with their learning, engagement and participation.

    Building a positive, professional and trusting relationship with the pupil.

    Promoting confidence, independence and positive behaviour.

    Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing where required.

    Adapting support and learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.

    Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff.

    Implementing individual support plans and agreed strategies.

    Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

    The Ideal 1:1 Support Assistant Will:

    Have previous experience working with children or young people.

    Be confident providing dedicated 1:1 support.

    Be patient, caring and adaptable in approach.

    Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD or ADHD (desirable).

    Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities.

    Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

    Have a fully checkable work history.
