How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and organised Work Placement & Experience Officer to join a leading education and training provider.     Working within the construction sector, you will play a key role in sourcing high-quality work placements, building strong employer relationships and ensuring students gain meaningful workplace experience that supports their learning and future career aspirations.

    The Role
    Reporting to the Curriculum and Employer Engagement teams, the Work Placement & Experience Officer will be responsible for developing employer partnerships and coordinating work placement opportunities for students studying construction-related programmes.
    This is a varied role that combines relationship management, administration, compliance and student support. You will work closely with employers, curriculum teams and students to ensure placements are safe, relevant and deliver a positive experience for everyone involved.

    Key Responsibilities
    ·Sourcing work experience, industry placements and work-based learning opportunities
    ·Building relationships with construction employers and industry stakeholders
    ·Coordinating employer engagement activities, including careers talks, masterclasses and interview preparation sessions
    ·Ensuring all placements meet safeguarding, health and safety and compliance requirements
    ·Carrying out employer reviews and placement monitoring activities
    ·Supporting students to prepare for placements and ensuring all documentation is completed
    ·Maintaining accurate placement records and updating CRM systems
    ·Working closely with curriculum teams to identify suitable placement opportunities
    ·Responding to enquiries from employers, students, parents and colleagues
    ·Providing feedback to curriculum staff on placement outcomes and employer engagement activities
    ·Assisting with audits, inspections and quality assurance requirements
    ·Identifying opportunities to further strengthen employer partnerships

    The successful Work Placement & Experience Officer will be passionate about supporting students while developing strong relationships with local businesses and industry partners.
    Requirements
    We are looking for an organised and professional individual with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of the construction industry.

    To be successful, you will have:
    ·Experience working within or alongside the construction sector
    ·Experience engaging and building relationships with employers and external stakeholders
    ·A proactive approach with the ability to achieve positive outcomes
    ·Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
    ·Strong organisational and administrative skills
    ·Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
    ·The ability to build rapport quickly with students, employers and colleagues
    ·Experience maintaining accurate records and managing information effectively
    ·GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent
    ·A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites as required
    This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who has been a Work Placement Coordinator, Employer Engagement Officer, Careers Adviser, Apprenticeship Coordinator, Training Coordinator, Recruitment Consultant or Employability Adviser within an education, training, construction or skills-based environment.
