How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: DevOps Engineer
    Location: Newcastle (Hybrid)
    Type: Contract
    Duration: 12 months

    Role Overview
    We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team in Newcastle on a 12-month contract. You will play a key role in building and maintaining development environments, implementing automation, and supporting continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
    You will work closely with development and testing teams to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable software delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    Collaborate with DevOps, development, and client teams to deliver robust environments and tools.
    Set up, configure, and maintain tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, and testing platforms.
    Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous integration, testing, and delivery.
    Automate software development processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
    Develop and manage serverless integrations between systems using APIs.
    Support infrastructure provisioning and configuration using automation tools.
    Ensure high levels of system performance, security, and reliability.
    Required Skills & Experience

    Hands-on experience with public or private cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
    Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts with practical experience using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS Code Build.
    Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as:
    Terraform
    AWS CloudFormation / CDK
    Expertise in configuration management tools:
    Ansible
    Puppet
    Chef
    Experience with containerization and orchestration:
    Docker / Docker Compose
    Kubernetes / OpenShift
    Working knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologies.
    Proficiency in at least one scripting language:
    Python
    Bash
    PowerShell
    Node.js / TypeScript
