An established and growing engineering business is looking to recruit a Service Manager to lead and develop its refrigeration service operation.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Refrigeration Service Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or Senior Engineer who wants to take ownership of a field service team while remaining close to the technical side of the industry.
The business works with a range of commercial and industrial refrigeration, compressor and cooling systems, supporting customers with planned maintenance, servicing, breakdowns and technical support.
You don't necessarily need to already hold the title of Service Manager. We're equally interested in experienced refrigeration professionals who have led engineers or teams and are ready to make the next step into management.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for a team of approximately 4–6 field-based Service Engineers, working closely with the service coordination and engineering teams.
Your responsibilities will include:

Managing, supporting and developing a team of Service Engineers
*
Planning and scheduling planned maintenance, servicing and breakdown work
*
Coordinating engineers and ensuring workloads are effectively prioritised
*
Acting as an escalation point for technical and operational issues
*
Supporting engineers with complex refrigeration and compressor-related problems
*
Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance activity
*
Ensuring jobs are progressed efficiently from initial call through to completion
*
Working closely with service coordination to improve planning and communication
*
Liaising with customers and maintaining a high standard of service delivery
*
Helping improve internal service systems, procedures and processes
*
Supporting improvements around parts, stores and engineering operations
*
Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency across the service department
*
Working closely with senior management as the service operation continues to develop
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience across refrigeration, compressors or associated cooling plant.
You may currently be working as a:
Service Manager | Refrigeration Manager | Service Supervisor | Engineering Supervisor | Team Leader | Lead Refrigeration Engineer | Senior Refrigeration Engineer
Ideally, you'll have:

A strong background in commercial and/or industrial refrigeration
*
Good knowledge of compressors, refrigeration systems and associated plant
*
Previous hands-on engineering experience
*
Experience managing, supervising or leading engineers
*
Experience within planned and reactive maintenance environments
*
Strong planning and organisational skills
*
The confidence to deal with technical escalations and make operational decisions
*
Good customer-facing and communication skills
*
A proactive approach to improving systems and processes
*
Experience with compressor systems, refrigeration packs, cold stores, blast freezers, chillers or industrial cooling equipment would be particularly beneficial.
Candidates from closely related compressor, cooling or temperature-control backgrounds with suitable service management experience are also encouraged to apply.
