How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job title: Maintenance Operative/Handyman/Multitrader - Care Home.

    Reporting to: Property & Project Manager.
    Hours of work: 37.5 - Monday to Friday either 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm.
    Location: Taunton & Bridgewater areas.
    Mandatory Requirements: Enhanced DBS (3-6 months), clean UK driving License (no points).
    Salary: This is a temp to permanent role £26,000-£35,000 DOE.
    Benefits: Company van and tools provided.

    Role Overview and Purpose:
    You will utilize your general repair skills to carry out duties including planned and reactive maintenance works ranging from plumbing & heating and joinery works through to decoration and gardening across all areas of the service covering. You will be responsible for supporting the service with Fire Safety and Legionella checks along with various other compliance checks to ensure that our services are safe and compliant with the law.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide a friendly, responsive service for the people we support and the buildings within our care across a geographical region.
    Implement and manage the agreed regional planned preventative maintenance (PPM) plan as well as delivering a high-quality reactive repair service.
    Work closely with the Facilities & Compliance team to ensure effective communication regarding jobs that are open/closed and to manage expectations on delivery of the service that you are providing and ensure commitments are adhered to at all times.
    Provide deep technical and practical knowledge, ideally across a range of trades/ disciplines.
    To ensure that wastage is limited, van stock is maintained, value for money is obtained and tasks/time are effectively managed.
    To check tasks, CAFM entries, expenses, leave requests etc. completed, ensuring all paperwork is completed and downloaded to the VPS System in accordance with company policy, to ensure their performance targets are met.
    To take responsibility for your own and others Health & Safety whilst working at company care properties.
    To maintain a working knowledge of the operation of the following services in each home/serviceo Emergency lighting systems where applicable, fire panels, break glass and fire doors.

    o Lighting - re-fixing or replacement of fittings including emergency lighting

    o Electrical repair/replacements within the scope of Part P

    o Plumbing system including waste outlets, taps, sanitary ware, unblocking of drains, toilets etc.

    o Laundry equipment including connecting and disconnecting of machines, including plumbing in of replacement machines as necessary and removal from site of redundant equipment

    To use company IT systems to record and review work undertaken, ensuring tasks are undertaken within agreed SLAs, and record related expenditure.
    To undertake regular travel and occasional overnight stays as and when required.Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:

    Qualifications:

    -City & guilds 2391 Electrical Safety Certificate.

    Legionella Awareness Certificate (LCA).

    Plumbing & Heating NVQ Level 2 or above.

    City & Guilds Diploma Level 2 or above in joinery.

    Full UK Driving Licence.

    ***Enhanced DBS is a Mandatory Requirement***

    Knowledge and experience:

    Demonstrable min 1 years' experience of working as a maintenance operative/handyman in a multi-site environment.

    Basic experience of MS Office 365 and property management systems (CAFM).

    Strong understanding of compliance with statutory regulations and any other regulatory and legal requirements that impact the role.

    Experience and knowledge of Health & Safety.
