How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Cover Supervisor – Secondary School

    Location: Enfield, London
    Salary: £95–£130 per day
    Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
    Start Date: 8 September 2026

Teach Now is recruiting a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor for a secondary school in Enfield from September 2026.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for classes when the usual teacher is absent, ensuring pupils remain focused and complete work that has already been set. You are not expected to plan lessons or undertake the full responsibilities of a qualified teacher – your focus is classroom management, clear communication and maintaining productive learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, graduate, sports coach, youth worker or aspiring teacher who is comfortable working with secondary-age pupils.

    Key Responsibilities

Supervise classes across KS3 and KS4, with possible KS5 cover

Deliver pre-prepared lesson instructions and ensure pupils remain on task

Establish clear expectations at the beginning of each lesson

Manage behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policy

Respond appropriately to questions about the work set

Record attendance and report relevant issues to teaching or pastoral staff

Support pupils who need additional clarification or encouragement

Carry out additional supervision or departmental duties when required

Maintain safeguarding and health-and-safety expectations at all times

    Requirements

    Successful candidates will need:

Previous experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary-school environment

Strong classroom presence and behaviour-management skills

Confidence communicating with groups of pupils aged 11–18

Good organisation, reliability and professional judgement

The ability to follow lesson plans and school procedures

A good standard of literacy and numeracy

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Right to work in the UK

    Satisfactory recent references

Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, tutor, instructor, sports coach, youth worker or trainee teacher would be particularly relevant.
