How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role
    Reporting to the Employer Engagement management team, the Employer Engagement Officer will act as the primary point of contact for employers within the construction sector, developing new business opportunities whilst managing and growing existing accounts.
    This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will be engaging with new and existing employers, understanding workforce development needs and promoting a range of training solutions that deliver value to both businesses and learners.

    Typical responsibilities include:
    ·Developing new business opportunities through proactive sales activity, networking and employer engagement
    ·Building and maintaining strong relationships with construction employers across the region
    ·Promoting apprenticeships, commercial training programmes, distance learning opportunities and funded training solutions
    ·Managing employer accounts and identifying opportunities for growth and additional services
    ·Providing advice on available funding streams and the most appropriate training solutions
    ·Preparing proposals, presentations, bids and tender submissions
    ·Attending employer meetings, networking events and industry forums
    ·Maintaining accurate CRM records and managing a healthy sales pipeline
    ·Producing forecasts and reports to support performance monitoring
    ·Working closely with marketing and curriculum teams to ensure employer needs are met
    ·Supporting employer satisfaction activities and responding promptly to enquiries

    The successful Employer Engagement Officer will become a trusted advisor to employers, providing a responsive and professional service that encourages long-term partnerships with our client.

    Requirements
    We are looking for a confident business development professional with strong relationship-building skills and a passion for supporting the construction sector.

    To be successful, you will have:
    ·Significant experience in business development, sales or employer engagement
    ·A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
    ·Experience generating new business through cold calling and other sales activity
    ·Experience managing employer accounts and developing long-term business relationships
    ·Knowledge and understanding of the construction sector
    ·Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
    ·Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines
    ·Strong objection-handling and closing skills
    ·Full UK driving licence and access to transport
    ·A willingness to travel as required

    This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who has been a Business Development Executive, Employer Engagement Officer, Account Manager, Apprenticeship Sales Consultant or Business Development Manager within a training, education, construction, apprenticeship or skills-based environment.
