How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Air Conditioning Engineer – Service & Maintenance
    Location: M4 Corridor
    Salary: £40,000+ DOE
Benefits: Company Van + Fuel Card + Door-to-Door Travel + Private Use + Pension + 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

    The Company
Our client is a growing and ambitious M&E contractor based in Berkshire, with over 10 years of trading history and a strong reputation across the commercial sector.

Having grown significantly to a team of over 30 employees and a fleet of 19 vehicles operating across the region, the business is now investing heavily in its M&E division as it continues its journey towards becoming a full M&E provider.

The company works predominantly along the M4 corridor, with only occasional projects in London, and has built an impressive portfolio of commercial clients across the education, leisure and office sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth. The air conditioning division is still developing, giving the successful engineer a genuine opportunity to take ownership, influence the direction of the division and play a key role in its future success.

    The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to carry out service, maintenance and reactive works across a range of commercial sites.
The role will predominantly focus on planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and breakdowns, with occasional split-system installation work when required.

The successful candidate will be a confident and technically capable engineer who is comfortable working independently, managing their own workload and taking ownership of the air conditioning requirements across the business.

You will work alongside an existing multi-skilled engineer who is also capable of carrying out AC works, forming a dedicated two-person AC team. As the more technically focused engineer within the division, you will have the opportunity to become a key member of the team and help shape the future development of the AC offering.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial air conditioning systems
Attend reactive maintenance and repair call-outs
Diagnose faults and carry out effective fault finding
Respond to breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime
    Complete occasional split-system installations
Identify and report any further works or remedial requirements
Ensure all works are completed in line with relevant industry standards and health & safety requirements
Complete service reports and relevant documentation accurately
Maintain strong relationships with commercial clients and provide excellent customer service
Work independently while taking ownership of assigned jobs and workload
    Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer with a strong background in commercial service and maintenance.

    You will ideally have:

    FGAS qualification
Proven experience in air conditioning service and maintenance
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic experience
Good breakdown and reactive maintenance experience
    Experience working within commercial environments
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
    Strong communication and customer-facing skills
    A professional and reliable approach
    A Full UK Driving Licence
Engineers with particularly strong fault-finding and breakdown experience are encouraged to apply, with higher salaries available for the right candidate.

    Salary & Benefits

£40,000+ basic salary, depending on experience
Higher salary considered for engineers with strong fault-finding and breakdown expertise
    Company van
    Fuel card
Private use of company vehicle available
    Door-to-door travel paid
    Pension scheme
20 days annual leave + bank holidays
    40-hour working week
    Call-Out
There is no dedicated AC call-out rota in place.

    Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer who wants more than just another service and maintenance role.

You will be joining a growing M&E business at a stage where the AC division is still being developed, giving you the opportunity to become the go-to technical engineer, take ownership of the AC function and have a genuine influence on how the division develops.

With the majority of work located along the M4 corridor, no London travel, a company van, paid door-to-door travel and the potential for progression as the business continues to expand, this is an excellent opportunity for the right engineer
