How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Civils Quantity Surveyor.
    In this vital role, you will oversee the financial and contractual aspects of civil engineering projects, ensuring that costs are controlled, budgets are maintained, and project objectives are achieved efficiently. Your expertise will help drive successful project delivery by managing costs, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and providing accurate financial reporting.     Duties
    * Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other infrastructure works
    * Monitor project expenditures continuously to ensure adherence to budgets and identify potential cost overruns early
    * Conduct regular cost control assessments by analyzing variations, change orders, and claims to keep projects financially on track
    * Negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms
    * Collaborate closely with project managers and engineers to forecast costs and support decision-making processes
    * Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions, contractual documents, and change orders for audit purposes
    * Provide detailed reports on project financial status to stakeholders, highlighting risks and opportunities for cost savings
    Qualifications
    * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or construction industry, with a focus on cost control
    * Strong understanding of civil engineering processes, materials, and construction methods
    * Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure optimal terms from suppliers and subcontractors
    * Proficiency in industry-standard software such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent estimating tools
    * Exceptional analytical skills with keen attention to detail in financial documentation
    * Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with clients, contractors, and team members
    * Relevant certifications or qualifications in quantity surveying or civil engineering are preferred
