How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Design Coordinator – Major Civils & Infrastructure Project

    Location: Derby

    Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Competitive Benefits Package

    Job Type: Permanent

    About the Role

Are you an ambitious Design Coordinator looking to take the next step in your career on a major UK infrastructure project?

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering subcontractor for a Design Coordinator to join their team on a flagship scheme in Derby. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-profile project with over three years of secured work already in place, and potential involvement extending up to six years.

Working directly alongside an experienced Design Manager, you will gain hands-on exposure across complex reinforced concrete (RC), deep groundworks, and heavy civil infrastructure packages. This role is structured to offer long-term stability, direct mentoring, and a clear path of progression into full Design Management.

    Key Responsibilities

As Design Coordinator, you will support the Design Manager in coordinating, managing, and delivering technical design information in line with the construction programme:

    * Design Coordination: Support the seamless flow of design information between external consultants, specialist subcontractors, site teams, and project stakeholders.

    * Deliverables Management: Assist in tracking design schedules, technical submittals, drawing registers, and project documentation.

    * Buildability Reviews: Review drawings and technical packages early to identify clashes, buildability challenges, and design coordination issues.

    * RFIs & Technical Queries: Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and Design Change Notes (DCNs) across the project lifecycle.

    * Collaborative Meetings: Attend design review meetings, documenting actions and working closely with site engineers and external design teams.

    * Information Release: Ensure accurate, fully approved design information is issued on time to keep site construction activities moving forward efficiently.

    * Assurance & Risk: Support technical compliance, design assurance processes, and design risk management protocols.

    * Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth package delivery.

    About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who possess:

    * Experience: Around 2–3 years of experience as a Design Coordinator, Technical Coordinator, or Design Engineer within civil engineering, heavy infrastructure, reinforced concrete (RC), or major construction projects.

    * Technical Understanding: A solid grasp of the design coordination process and how technical information directly impacts physical site delivery.

    * Software Skills: Familiarity with Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms such as Aconex, Asite, or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is highly advantageous.

    * Soft Skills: Strong organisational capability, clear communication skills, and the confidence to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    * Qualifications: A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Services (HNC, HND, or Degree) is beneficial, but relevant site/design experience is paramount.

Looking to Transition from Site Engineering?

We actively welcome applications from Site Engineers or Project Engineers looking to transition into Design Coordination. If you have built a strong foundation in civils delivery, buildability, and drawing management on site and want to move into a design-focused career path, this role offers the structured mentoring and project exposure you need to succeed.

    What’s on Offer?

    * Competitive Package: £40,000 – £45,000 basic salary plus a competitive corporate benefits package.

    * Project Longevity: Secure pipeline on a flagship project offering 3–6 years of site work.

    * Structured Progression: Direct 1-on-1 mentoring from a Senior Design Manager with a defined route into Design Management.

    * Technical Challenge: High-value exposure to complex RC frames, heavy groundworks, and major civils packages.

    * Employer Stability: Work with a leading, financially robust civil engineering subcontractor with an outstanding nationwide portfolio.
