How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are delighted to be partnering with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to source a Head of Business Performance to join them on a permanent basis.


    • Location: London City Hall, E16 1ZE
    • Working arrangement: 2/3 days per week at City Hall. This is non negotiable.
    • Salary: Starting salary is £67,715, plus employer pension contribution of 8.5% and 30 days annual leave


    The Head of Business Performance will lead the business management function across the Directorate. This pivotal role involves ensuring effective delivery of performance management, budget and financial oversight, procurement, communications, governance, business support, and decision-making processes.


    Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to the Directorate Leadership Team, driving continuous improvement and operational delivery alignment with organisational priorities.


    Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

    • Leadership and Oversight: Lead the Directorate Business Management function, providing strategic oversight and coordination across all business management activities.
    • Team Management: Develop and manage a team of Business Managers and Support Officers to create a high-performing, collaborative, and customer-focused service.
    • Performance and Risk Reporting: Oversee the timely reporting of performance, risks, issues, and delivery against strategic priorities, providing analysis and advice to support informed decision-making.
    • Financial Planning and Governance: Lead directorate financial planning, budget monitoring, and forecasting processes, ensuring sound financial management and compliance with corporate requirements.
    • Strategic Communications: Oversee the production of high-quality briefings, submissions, reports, and correspondence for senior leaders, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
    • Procurement and Contract Management: Coordinate procurement activities, ensuring alignment with organisational policies, governance requirements, and financial regulations.
    • Corporate Planning Contribution: Lead the directorate's input into corporate planning processes, including business planning, budget setting, and organisational change initiatives.
    • EDI Initiatives: Develop and lead the directorate improvement plan with an emphasis on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), ensuring these objectives are integrated into Directorate priorities.


    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Experience: Significant experience leading a business management, performance, or corporate services function within a complex organisation.
    • Leadership: Proven experience managing teams and developing high-performing business management professionals.
    • Financial Expertise: Strong financial management skills, including budget planning, forecasting, and financial governance.
    • Procurement Knowledge: Knowledge of procurement, contract management, and commissioning processes.
    • Performance Management: Experience designing and implementing performance management and reporting frameworks.
    • Strategic Communication: Demonstrable experience producing high-quality briefing material, reports, and submissions for senior executives.
    • Governance and Risk Management: Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and corporate decision-making processes.
    • Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, particularly in politically sensitive environments.
    • EDI Leadership: Experience of leading and embedding Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.
