How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract length: 5-6 months (end date 31st March 2027)

    Location: Hybrid, 3 days on site in Paddington, London (2 days working from home)

    The Medical Education Planning Specialist will be part of the international medical affairs team providing advanced project management support for the planning, tactical execution and reporting for medical affairs and medical education projects across the international region.

    The post-holder will work closely with business owners to apply project management best practices, in the development, initiation, planning, execution, maintenance, and reporting for new and existing medical projects within the assigned therapeutic area(s) and region(s), as well as other departmental initiatives.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Works in close collaboration with the Medical Education Leads and Country Business Owners to provide high quality project management expertise to ensure the timely implementation of medical activities aligned to the annual medical plans across the international region.
    • Actively contributes to and participates in the development and tracking of high-quality medical projects. Develops detailed, full timelines for projects with supervision and communicates project status through preparation of monthly dashboards and other reporting materials, collecting information and ensuring accuracy of reports. Proactively proposes improvements to project management and reporting processes.
    • Builds and manages collaborative relationships with internal cross functional teams and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and appropriate communications in a professional and responsible manner as per business needs.
    • Actively implements risk mitigation planning, highlighting risks, timeline delays and other issues. Works with OBIE and legal to identify, advise and implement process improvements to ensure optimal compliance and process efficiency.
    • Effectively manages external agencies to ensure their timely delivery of work, whilst safe-guarding quality and compliance with relevant local/regional regulations.
    • Ensures compliance and maintain appropriate medical, commercial interactions both internally and externally whilst adhering to applicable legislation, in particular: privacy/GDPR, Code of Conduct and reporting payments to HCPs (Global Spend Transparency).
    • Works with Medical Education Leads and Country Business Owners to monitor project budget/spending associated with planning and process aspects of Vertex medical projects such as sponsored medical education events, advisory boards, medical reporting, regional internal medical meetings, management of review and approval of medical materials in Vertex systems and can identify deviations from the plan.
    • Seen as a subject matter expert and point of contact for regions and/or other functions for medical processes and project management expertise, ensuring quality medical activities across the international region.


    Skills & Experience:

    • BSc (or equivalent) level of qualification in life sciences, project management or other relevant areas.
    • Typically requires experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Fluent in English and additional languages – German, Austrian, Polish would be preferred.
    • Strong project management, planning and organisational skills.
    • Experience in Medical Education or Communication projects preferred.
    • Experience of working with multi-national, cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to professionally communicate with HCPs/HCOs, verbal and written.
    • Strong planning and organisational skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to exchange straightforward information and check for understanding.
    • Ability to perform detail-oriented work and maintain downstream project or system timelines and objectives.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to proactively identify risks and find solutions for highly complex or unusual business challenges.
    • Team player mindset, with a “can do” attitude.
