How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    • Are you looking for a rewarding teaching role where you can focus on delivering meaningful, personalised learning experiences?

TeacherActive is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a specialist provision in Walton-on-Thames, starting in September. This is an exciting opportunity for a Primary or Secondary Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference to pupils with autism and a range of varied and complex needs.

The provision is committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing and engaging learning environment where every pupil is supported to reach their individual potential. This role is ideal for a teacher who wants to spend less time focused on unnecessary paperwork and more time on what truly matters – delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences that inspire every child to thrive.

As a SEND Teacher, you will teach small, focused classes and have the freedom and flexibility to adapt your teaching to each pupil's individual learning style, interests and needs. You will create engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage curiosity, confidence and positive participation while supporting pupils' academic, social, emotional and personal development.

Working collaboratively with support staff, therapists and pastoral colleagues, you will take a holistic approach to each pupil's education. You will help pupils develop essential life skills, independence and ownership of their learning journey while creating a safe, respectful and positive classroom environment where every child feels valued.

The successful SEND Teacher will have:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant recognised teaching qualification
    • Experience teaching within a Primary or Secondary setting
    • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly autism and complex needs, is highly desirable
    • A creative and flexible teaching approach with the ability to adapt lessons to individual learning needs
    • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
    • A compassionate, patient and resilient approach to teaching
    • Strong safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to prioritising pupil wellbeing
    • The ability to assess and track pupil progress effectively, adapting teaching strategies where required
    • A positive attitude and a commitment to celebrating every pupil's progress and achievements

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach small, focused classes, adapting lessons to meet each pupil's unique learning style and needs
    • Create engaging and inclusive learning experiences that encourage curiosity and confidence
    • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and pastoral colleagues
    • Support pupils' academic, social, emotional and personal development holistically
    • Promote a safe, respectful and positive environment where every child feels valued
    • Support pupils in developing essential life skills and independence
    • Encourage pupil participation and ownership of their learning journey
    • Maintain excellent safeguarding standards and prioritise pupil wellbeing
    • Track and assess progress effectively, adapting strategies where needed
    • Celebrate every success – big or small – and approach challenges with positivity

In return for the above, you can expect to receive:

    • A dedicated team of consultants to guide and support you throughout your assignments
    • Access to CPD courses and certificates through the My-Progression channel
    • Competitive rates of pay
    • Support throughout the registration and placement process
    • TeacherActive Referral Scheme – Receive up to £100 when you refer a friend. Terms and Conditions apply
