How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design Technician – Commercial Interior Fit-Out Subcontractor

    * c£45k - £55k dependant on experience

    The Company

    My client is one of London’s leading interior specialist sub-contractors working alongside blue chip contractors on some of the most prestigious landmark commercial office projects in the Central London. The company is a successfully growing business, which has been established for more than 30 years. They have been recognised for their investment in training, developing and rewarding their staff, and from this have been awarded an Investors in People Platinum award.

    They are specialists in designing and installing standard and bespoke complex structural and architectural glazed solutions such as atriums, lift lobbies, glass stairs, balustrades, external curtain wall, structural glass façades and fire rated doors and glazing.

    We are looking for a Design Manager (hands on day to day technical design role) to join a very experienced team of Design Managers and Senior Design Managers working on a range of specialist architectural glazing projects in the commercial building sector. Support and training would be provided to enable the successful candidate to grow and develop in the role.

    The Design Technician Role:

    You will be responsible for the production and management of design and technical documentation for commercial architectural glazing projects from project award to final account. Using specialist computer software including AutoCAD and Revit (BIM) to produce plans and technical drawings for fabrication, modelling a range of products and components (2D and 3D).

    * To use specialist computer software (AutoCAD, Revit) to produce plans, technical drawings for fabrication, modelling a range of products and components (2D and 3D for the project.

    * To be able to work independently, whilst under the guidance of a Design Department Manager, and manage timescales against project programmes to achieve deadlines targeted.

    * To ensure buildability, safety, cost, and access are considered when producing designs.

    * To liaise with internal and external departments to ensure client requirements are fully understood and compliant.

    * To ensure all plans and drawings are in line with the specification, acoustic and fire requirements.

    * To ensure all drawings and plans are thoroughly checked by the Senior Design Department team prior to submission.

    * To liaise with engineers, suppliers and produce fabrication drawings.

    * To create and issue technical submissions.

    * Follow design processes and update project files.

    The Successful Design Technician

    * Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a design role within a commercial architectural or glazed partitioning environment.

    * Ability and experience in being front facing and communicating effectively with Main Contractor teams, Architects and other Sub / Trade Contractors.

    * Excellent knowledge of design software including AutoCAD and Revit (BIM).

    * Previous experience of working with architects plans and drawings as well as manufacturing details and requisitions. Understanding of setting out from datums and gridlines.

    * Good problem-solving skills and the ability to come up with practical solutions.

    * Ability to convert verbal and written information into 2D and 3D drawings with accuracy and attention to detail
