How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Responsible Individual (Part-Time) – Children's Residential Care

    Locations: Hoddesdon & Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
    Rate: £400–£550 per day (Self-Employed)
Commitment: Approximately 2 days per week

AA Euro Healthcare is recruiting on behalf of a growing children's residential care provider seeking an experienced Responsible Individual (RI) to provide strategic leadership, governance and regulatory oversight across two children's residential services in Hertfordshire.

    The services will comprise:

A 4-bed Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) children's home in Hoddesdon
A 1-bed solo placement service in Broxbourne, providing highly individualised care and support for a young person

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Responsible Individual, Operations Director, Head of Care or senior children's residential professional looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity with a provider focused on delivering high-quality, child-centred care and achieving strong regulatory outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

Act as the Responsible Individual for the provider in accordance with Ofsted requirements.
Provide strategic oversight and governance across both children's residential services.
Work closely with the Registered Manager(s) to ensure effective operational management and regulatory compliance.
Ensure services operate in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted's Quality Standards.
Maintain robust oversight of safeguarding, care planning, risk management and children's outcomes.
Monitor the quality of care being delivered and ensure appropriate quality assurance systems are in place.
Review and challenge internal audits, monitoring reports and service improvement plans.
Provide leadership and support around Ofsted registration, inspections and ongoing regulatory requirements.
Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure children's welfare remains at the centre of all decision-making.
Identify areas for improvement and work with the management team to drive continuous improvement.
Provide appropriate challenge, support and accountability to the operational management team.

    Requirements

Previous experience working as a Responsible Individual within an Ofsted-regulated children's residential setting, or significant senior management experience within children's residential care.
Strong understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted's Quality Standards.
Proven experience in safeguarding, governance, compliance and quality assurance.
Experience supporting Registered Managers and children's residential services.
Strong understanding of care planning, risk management and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent is desirable.
Experience overseeing EBD or complex children's residential services would be highly advantageous.
Full UK driving licence desirable due to the locations of the services.

    What's on Offer

    £400–£550 per day, on a self-employed basis.
Approximately 2 days per week, offering flexibility around existing commitments.
Responsibility for two children's residential services across Hoddesdon and Broxbourne.
Opportunity to play a key role in the development and governance of a growing children's care provider.
A varied RI position covering both a 4-bed EBD home and a specialist 1-bed solo placement service.
The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the quality of care and outcomes for children and young people.
If you are an experienced Responsible Individual or senior children's residential professional looking for a flexible consultancy-style opportunity and have the regulatory and leadership experience required to oversee these services, we would be keen to hear from you
