How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Laboratory Procurement Manager (6 Month FTC)Cambridge | Hybrid Working
    Circa £55,000-£65,000 + Benefits
    Your new company
    An innovative and rapidly growing technology business is seeking a Procurement Manager to support a major laboratory expansion project at its Cambridge site.
    With significant growth plans, international expansion and ongoing investment in research and development, this is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation at a pivotal stage in its journey. The role will play a key part in supporting the relocation and fit-out of laboratory facilities, managing significant equipment expenditure and ensuring the business has the supplier partnerships and procurement processes required to support continued growth.
    Your new role
    Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of procurement activities relating to laboratory equipment, maintenance contracts, technical services and associated operational spend.Working closely with engineering, scientific and operational stakeholders, you will lead sourcing activities, supplier negotiations and contract management whilst helping to deliver a high-profile capital investment programme.
    Key responsibilities will include:

    Managing procurement activity for laboratory equipment, technical services and associated operational requirements.
    Supporting a major laboratory relocation and expansion project.
    Leading supplier negotiations and contract renewals to deliver commercial value and service improvements.
    Developing and managing supplier relationships across specialist technical categories.
    Supporting capital expenditure projects and equipment investment programmes.
    Reviewing existing contracts and maintenance arrangements to identify opportunities for improvement and cost optimisation.
    Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to understand future requirements and procurement priorities.
    Ensuring procurement activity is conducted in accordance with established governance and compliance requirements.What you'll need to succeed
    We are keen to speak with procurement professionals who have experience operating within laboratory, scientific, pharmaceutical, technology, engineering or highly regulated environments.You will demonstrate:

    Experience of sourcing laboratory, technical, engineering or specialised equipment.
    Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
    Experience managing contracts and capital equipment procurement projects.
    Ability to work effectively with technical and operational stakeholders.
    Commercially focused approach combined with excellent communication skills.
    Experience supporting business growth, facility expansions or major investment programmes would be advantageous.
    CIPS qualification or progress towards qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.What you'll get in return
