How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you a specification-led sales professional who knows how to get products designed into projects before your competitors even know the opportunity exists? I’m working exclusively with a fast-growing and highly successful UK electrical manufacturer that is looking to appoint an experienced Specification Sales Manager to take ownership of an established and high-performing territory.

    This is not a cold-start territory and it’s not a role where you’ll spend your days simply servicing existing accounts. The distribution network is already strong. The opportunity is to get further upstream, building relationships with the people who influence projects, winning specifications and then seeing those opportunities through to completion.

    What will you be doing?

    You’ll be responsible for developing specification opportunities across sectors including:

    * Social housing

    * Residential new build

    * Commercial developments

    * Mixed-use projects

    You’ll build relationships with the key people influencing these projects, identify opportunities early, get products specified and work with the distribution network to convert those specifications into sales.

    You'll be expected to:

    * Identify and develop new specification opportunities

    * Build relationships with consultants, contractors, developers and other key stakeholders

    * Influence projects at an early stage

    * Manage opportunities from initial specification through to completion

    * Develop existing customer relationships while creating new ones

    * Monitor upcoming projects, market activity and competitor movements

    * Maintain a strong pipeline and deliver sustainable territory growth

    * Work closely with the wider business to maximise opportunities

    Who am I looking for?

    This is much more about how you sell than simply what your current job title says.

    You could be a Specification Manager, Specification Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Project Sales Manager or similar, but you should have a proven track record of winning business through influence, relationships and specification, rather than relying purely on price.

    You'll ideally have:

    * Experience selling into the electrical industry or a closely related technical environment

    * A background in specification or project-led sales

    * Experience working across residential, commercial and/or social housing projects

    * A strong network of industry contacts

    * A proven ability to generate new business rather than simply manage existing accounts

    * Strong commercial and negotiation skills

    * Excellent presentation and communication skills

    * The ability to manage a number of projects and opportunities simultaneously

    * The confidence and autonomy to take ownership of a territory and make things happen

    Why is this role interesting?

    Because you're not inheriting a problem territory. You'll be taking over an established region with strong distribution relationships and a recognised product portfolio, giving you the platform to concentrate on what you do best: finding opportunities, getting in front of the right people and winning specifications. The company is growing rapidly and has built a strong reputation for quality, reliability and innovation within the UK electrical market.

    For the right person, there is genuine scope to make a significant commercial impact.

    Interested?

    I’m managing this recruitment process on behalf of my client and would be happy to have a confidential conversation with anyone who feels their background could be a strong match. If you're currently working in specification sales within the electrical industry and are looking for a role where you can genuinely influence growth, I'd be particularly interested in hearing from you
