How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Due to continued growth and an expanding portfolio of secured work, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, managing the commercial aspects of builders works packages from pre-construction through to final account.

    The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects across London, ensuring costs are controlled, contracts are administered effectively and projects are delivered profitably.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Managing the commercial delivery of builders works projects from award through to final account.

    * Preparing cost plans, valuations, variations and final accounts.

    * Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.

    * Reviewing contracts and ensuring contractual compliance.

    * Monitoring project costs, forecasts and cash flow.

    * Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Negotiating variations and agreeing accounts with clients and subcontractors.

    * Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment.

    * Working closely with project managers, site teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.

    * Producing accurate commercial reports for senior management.

    Requirements

    * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.

    * Strong background in builders works, refurbishment or fit-out projects.

    * Good knowledge of standard forms of contract, including JCT.

    * Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

    * Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial performance.

    * Strong numerical, analytical and organisational abilities.

    * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

    * Relevant construction or commercial qualification preferred.

    What's on Offer

    * Competitive salary and attractive benefits package.

    * Long-term career progression with a growing and respected contractor.

    * Varied projects across London.

    * Supportive and collaborative working environment.

    * Opportunity to work on high-profile construction and refurbishment schemes.

    * Stable pipeline of secured work and long-term career prospects.

If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to join a successful contractor with an excellent reputation and a strong pipeline of work across London, we'd love to hear from you.
