How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Public Liaison Officer

    Location: Slough, Berkshire


    We are seeking an experienced Public Liaison Officer to join a major cycleway scheme in Slough. The role will be responsible for managing communication and engagement with residents, local businesses, cyclists, pedestrians, road users and other key stakeholders throughout the delivery of the works.

    Working closely with the site and project teams, you will ensure that the local community is kept informed of upcoming works, traffic management arrangements, access restrictions and potential disruption.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as the main point of contact for residents, businesses, cyclists, pedestrians and members of the public affected by the cycleway works.
    • Maintain positive relationships with the local community throughout the project.
    • Provide clear and timely information regarding planned works, construction activities, road closures, diversions, pedestrian and cycle routes and traffic management.
    • Manage and respond to public enquiries, complaints and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
    • Carry out regular site and surrounding area visits to identify issues affecting the public, local businesses and road users.
    • Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Manager, Traffic Management team and wider construction team to resolve public-facing issues.
    • Prepare and distribute resident and business communications, including letters, notices and project updates.
    • Ensure affected residents and businesses receive appropriate advance notification of disruptive works.
    • Engage with local businesses regarding access, deliveries, parking restrictions and temporary changes to pedestrian or vehicle access.
    • Support communications relating to temporary cycle routes, pedestrian diversions and changes to road layouts.
    • Attend local community, resident and stakeholder meetings where required.
    • Liaise with Slough Borough Council, local councillors, community groups and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate records of enquiries, complaints, correspondence and actions taken.
    • Monitor stakeholder feedback and escalate recurring or significant issues to the project management team.
    • Support the delivery of the project's stakeholder and community engagement strategy.
    • Assist with maintaining a positive public profile for the project and contractor.
    • Ensure all communications are consistent with client and project requirements.
    • Support the project team in minimising disruption to the local community while maintaining safe access for pedestrians, cyclists and road users.

    Candidate Requirements

    • Previous experience in a Public Liaison, Community Liaison or Stakeholder Engagement role.
    • Experience working on highways, roads, cycleways, active travel or civil engineering projects.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Confident dealing with members of the public, residents and local businesses.
    • Experience handling complaints and resolving issues effectively.
    • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
    • Ability to work closely with site-based construction teams.
    • Good understanding of working within a live urban environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
    • A proactive, professional and approachable manner.
