How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor - HS2 Civils
    Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
    Job Type: Freelance | £350 per Day
    Duration: Long-Term | Permanent Opportunity Available

    The Opportunity
     
    TradesTech Recruitment are working with an established civil engineering contractor delivering a major HS2 civils package in Banbury.
     
    We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a long-term freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS to gain further experience on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes, with the potential to move into a permanent position.
     
    You'll work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, gaining exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of a major civils project.
     
    Key Responsibilities

    Support the commercial management of a major HS2 civils package.
    Assist with applications for payment and commercial reporting.
    Support subcontract procurement, administration and management.
    Review and assess subcontractor applications, valuations and final accounts.
    Assist with the management of variations, compensation events and change.
    Support cost forecasting, reporting and budget control.
    Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
    Work closely with project and site teams to identify and manage commercial opportunities and risks.
    Assist with contractual administration and ensure commercial processes are followed.
    Develop strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders. What We're Looking For

    5+ years' experience within Quantity Surveying / Assistant Quantity Surveying.
    Experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.
    Good understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC3 or NEC4.
    Previous exposure to CEMAR would be advantageous.
    Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
    Good knowledge of subcontract management, valuations, change and cost reporting.
    Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider commercial team.
