How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Barnet

    Location: Barnet, North London

    Start date: 1 September 2026
Pay: £100–£120 per day, dependent on experience
    Key stages: KS1 and KS2

Teach Now is seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Barnet from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HLTA who enjoys taking greater responsibility in the classroom while remaining closely involved in pupils’ day-to-day learning and development. You will work across Key Stages 1 and 2, leading planned lessons, delivering focused interventions and supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

The school is looking for someone calm, organised and proactive who can quickly build positive relationships with pupils and provide reliable classroom leadership when teachers are engaged in planning, assessment or professional development.

    Your Responsibilities

As the school’s HLTA, you will:

Deliver pre-planned lessons to whole classes, small groups and individuals

Lead targeted interventions in areas such as phonics, reading, writing and mathematics

Adapt activities to support pupils with SEND and differing levels of attainment

Promote positive behaviour and maintain established classroom routines

Assess pupils’ understanding and provide useful feedback to class teachers

Support teachers with planning, preparation, displays and learning resources

Work collaboratively with the SENCO, phase leaders and pastoral staff

Supervise pupils during transitions and other parts of the school day when required

    What We Are Looking For

To be considered, you should have:

HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification

Recent experience supporting pupils in a UK primary school

Confidence leading lessons across KS1 or KS2

    Strong behaviour-management and communication skills

    Experience supporting pupils with SEND

A good working knowledge of the primary curriculum

The right to work in the UK

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Two satisfactory professional references covering recent employment

    What the School Offers

A genuinely varied role with opportunities to lead learning

Supportive teachers and an approachable senior leadership team

    Well-established behaviour and safeguarding procedures

Access to school-based training and professional development

The opportunity to broaden your experience across different year groups

A welcoming, inclusive environment where support staff are valued
