Teach Now is seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Barnet from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HLTA who enjoys taking greater responsibility in the classroom while remaining closely involved in pupils’ day-to-day learning and development. You will work across Key Stages 1 and 2, leading planned lessons, delivering focused interventions and supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
The school is looking for someone calm, organised and proactive who can quickly build positive relationships with pupils and provide reliable classroom leadership when teachers are engaged in planning, assessment or professional development.
Your Responsibilities
As the school’s HLTA, you will:
Deliver pre-planned lessons to whole classes, small groups and individuals
Lead targeted interventions in areas such as phonics, reading, writing and mathematics
Adapt activities to support pupils with SEND and differing levels of attainment
Promote positive behaviour and maintain established classroom routines
Assess pupils’ understanding and provide useful feedback to class teachers
Support teachers with planning, preparation, displays and learning resources
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, phase leaders and pastoral staff
Supervise pupils during transitions and other parts of the school day when required
What We Are Looking For
To be considered, you should have:
HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification
Recent experience supporting pupils in a UK primary school
Confidence leading lessons across KS1 or KS2
Strong behaviour-management and communication skills
Experience supporting pupils with SEND
A good working knowledge of the primary curriculum
The right to work in the UK
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Two satisfactory professional references covering recent employment
