How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    KS2 Teaching Assistant – Harrow

    Location: Harrow, North-West London
    Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
    Start date: 8 September 2026
    Pay: £90–£100 per day

Teach Now is recruiting a capable and academically confident KS2 Teaching Assistant for a long-term role in a Harrow primary school.

Working alongside an experienced class teacher, you will support pupils as the curriculum becomes increasingly demanding. You will explain tasks clearly, address misconceptions, lead small-group work and help children develop the organisation and independence they need for success in upper primary education.

This role would suit a teaching assistant who enjoys the academic side of classroom support and wants to make a measurable contribution to pupil progress.

    Your Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning throughout the school day

Lead focused groups in reading, writing and mathematics

Reinforce key vocabulary, concepts and problem-solving strategies

Provide additional support for pupils working below age-related expectations

Challenge higher-attaining pupils using teacher-prepared activities

Support pupils with SEND without limiting their independence

Help prepare resources and maintain an organised classroom

Monitor pupils’ understanding and report useful observations to the teacher

Promote positive behaviour and productive learning habits

Assist with assessment preparation where appropriate

    What You Will Need

Recent experience supporting children in KS2

    Secure literacy and numeracy skills

An understanding of the KS2 curriculum

The confidence to lead small groups and interventions

Clear communication and a patient teaching style

    Strong organisation and professional reliability

A commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

The right to work in the UK

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

    Two recent and satisfactory references

A Level 2 or Level 3 teaching-assistant qualification, degree or experience supporting Year 5 or Year 6 pupils would be advantageous.

    Benefits:

    A stable, long-term placement

Close collaboration with an experienced class teacher

The chance to develop intervention and assessment skills

    Structured planning and clear expectations

Opportunities to support pupils at an important stage of their education

Valuable experience for candidates considering teacher training

An inclusive staff team and supportive leadership
