How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Futures are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established supplier of high-value capital equipment serving the construction, infrastructure and utilities markets.

This is a territory-focused position covering the North of England, suited to a commercially driven sales professional with experience selling heavy plant, access equipment, machinery or similar capital equipment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of their region, developing new business while building and expanding relationships with existing customers. You’ll be given the autonomy to manage your territory and sales pipeline, with a strong emphasis on getting in front of customers and identifying opportunities to grow revenue.

You will be responsible for generating and converting sales opportunities across a broad customer base, including main contractors, civil engineering businesses, utilities, groundworks companies and other major construction organisations.

    The Role:

Taking commercial ownership of the North of England territory.
Identifying and securing new customers and project opportunities.
Developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities for further growth.
Selling high-value plant, machinery and specialist equipment solutions.
Building relationships with key decision-makers across construction, infrastructure and utilities.
Understanding customers' operational and project requirements and recommending appropriate equipment solutions.
Managing opportunities through the complete sales process, from initial contact and qualification through to commercial negotiation and close.
Maintaining an active pipeline and planning territory activity effectively.
Developing long-term customer relationships that generate repeat and ongoing business.
    The Ideal Candidate:

A successful track record selling capital equipment, heavy plant, access equipment, construction machinery or a closely related product.
Experience dealing with customers across construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities.
Demonstrable experience of winning new accounts and closing high-value sales.
    Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
The ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels within customer organisations.
A proactive, self-managed approach to territory development.
The willingness to travel regularly throughout the North of England.
This opportunity will particularly suit someone who enjoys the freedom of a field-based position, is comfortable creating their own opportunities and is motivated by developing a territory and being rewarded for strong commercial performance
