How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Material Handler
    Location: Curdworth, Birmingham
    Salary: Approximately £29,670 during training, rising to approximately £31,625 once trained, including shift allowances
    Hours: 38 hours per week
    Shift: Weekly rotating mornings and afternoons

    Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Curdworth. You will play an important role within its logistics operation, ensuring materials reach production accurately and on time while supporting goods inward, stock control and despatch activities.

    This is more than a standard FLT position. You’ll work across the warehouse and manufacturing operation, use computerised stock systems and take responsibility for the safe and accurate movement of materials.

    The Role
    Working closely with the warehouse, logistics and production teams, your responsibilities will include:

    Ensuring materials are supplied to production accurately and on time
    Loading and unloading incoming deliveries safely and efficiently
    Processing goods receipts, material issues and stock movements
    Using SAP or other ERP systems to complete warehouse transactions
    Picking, packing and preparing materials and finished goods for despatch
    Transferring stock between warehouse locations and production areas
    Ensuring materials are correctly identified, stored and rotated
    Completing regular stock checks and supporting inventory activities
    Preparing accurate shipping and despatch documentation
    Delivering and collecting materials for internal departments
    Operating FLT and material-handling equipment safely
    Maintaining accurate stock and traceability records
    Supporting hazardous-waste movements when required
    Maintaining a clean and organised workplace in line with 5S
    Following all warehouse and company Health & Safety proceduresWhat We’re Looking For To be considered, you should have:

    Previous experience within a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment
    Experience across goods inward, despatch and stock movements
    Valid Counterbalance FLT licencse and/or Flexi FLT licence, Multi-Directional FLT licence
    Experience using computerised stock-management systems
    SAP or ERP experience would be particularly advantageous
    Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
    A good understanding of warehouse Health & Safety
    The ability to work accurately within a busy, time-sensitive environment
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and warehouse processes
    GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalentSalary and Shift Pattern
    The training rate is £13.20 per hour, increasing to £14.07 per hour following successful completion of training.
    You will rotate weekly between:
    Morning Shift – 7.5% allowance

    Monday to Thursday: 6:00am–2:00pm
    Friday: 6:00am–12:00pmAfternoon Shift – 20% allowance

    Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm–10:00pm
    Friday: 12:00pm–6:00pmBased on the weekly rotation, total annual earnings are approximately:
