How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fabrication Workshop Manager

    Manufacturing & Engineering Sector

    Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE
    Hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    The Role

    We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy fabrication workshop. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge of heavy fabrication, welding, punch and brake press operations, and machine shop processes.

    Working closely with the Office Manager, you will lead the production team, ensure manufacturing targets are achieved, maintain quality standards, and drive workshop performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage daily workshop operations and production schedules.
    Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 20+ welders and fabricators.
    Allocate labour and resources to meet production targets.
    Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.
    Monitor workshop productivity, quality, and performance KPIs.
    Maintain high health & safety and housekeeping standards.
    Coordinate equipment maintenance and workshop resources.
    Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.

    Skills & Experience

    Essential

    Previous experience in a Workshop Manager, Supervisor, or Team Leader role.
    Strong background in heavy fabrication and welding.
    Experience managing teams of 20+ welders and fabricators.
    Knowledge of MIG welding, punch machinery, brake press, and machine shop operations.
    Welding experience with materials up to 25mm thickness.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    Strong leadership and organisational skills.
    Good understanding of health & safety requirements.

    Desirable

    TIG welding experience.
    Experience within heavy engineering, vehicle, trailer, or structural steel manufacturing.
    Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
    Relevant fabrication or welding qualifications.
