How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Fire Systems Engineer- East London / Essex (Covering London & the South East)- £45,000–£50,000 basic + Overtime + On-Call Payments

    Senior Fire Systems Engineer Overview

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Fire Systems Engineer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work for an established facilities maintenance and building projects company delivering specialist fire and life safety solutions across London and the South East.

    This is a hybrid role designed for an engineer who wants to progress into management. You'll spend the majority of your time carrying out engineering duties while gradually taking on office-based responsibilities, with a clear pathway to becoming the Head of the Fire Division.

    Senior Fire Systems Engineer Role & Responsibilities

    * Service, maintain, fault-find, repair and commission fire alarm systems.

    * Carry out small works on a range of fire alarm installations.

    * Work approximately 3–4 days per week on-site and 1–2 days per week in the office.

    * Review engineers' planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works.

    * Issue certifications and ensure compliance with industry standards.

    * Conduct site surveys and prepare quotations for remedial and new works.

    * Assist with maintaining company accreditations and quality standards.

    * Support the growth and development of the fire division.

    * Work across hotels, leisure facilities, commercial premises, retail units, schools, academies, care homes, local authority buildings, student accommodation and social housing.

    * Travel throughout London, Essex, Kent and the wider South East as required.

    * Participate in the on-call rota (1 in every 8 weeks).

    Senior Fire Systems Engineer Skills & Experience

    * Proven experience servicing, maintaining, fault-finding and commissioning fire alarm systems.

    * Strong technical knowledge of fire detection and alarm systems.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    * Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.

    * Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
