How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design Engineering Manager | Taunton | £65,000

I am working with an established and growing engineering manufacturer that develops specialist equipment for demanding, quality-focused industries. Its products combine mechanical, electronic and software engineering to help customers test complex systems safely, accurately and efficiently.

Info about what the Design Engineering Manager role entails

This is a newly created Design Engineering Manager position leading a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, and electronic design engineers. The role favours people management, but remains technically involved, combining people development, resource planning, and delivery accountability with technical reviews and design sign-off.

You will help strengthen engineering processes, improve quality and consistency, and ensure the team delivers against cost, quality and timescale expectations while working closely with stakeholders across the business

Essential Requirements of the Design Engineering Manager

    * Engineering degree, HNC/HND or equivalent technical education

    * Design engineering experience within complex equipment, machinery, automation or a similar environment

    * Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams

    * Knowledge of CAD packages and structured design processes.

    * Experience conducting technical reviews and design sign-off

    * Strong people-development and performance-management skills

    * Experience improving engineering processes and ways of working

    * Understanding of quality, compliance and risk-assessment processes

    * Ability to influence stakeholders and hold teams accountable for cost, quality and delivery.

Desirable experience of the Design Engineering Manager

    * Experience using Fusion 360 or similar 3D CAD software

    * Background in automated test equipment, industrial machinery or complex electro-mechanical products

    * Experience working within a mid-high volume manufacturing environment

    * Familiarity with JIRA or similar project and workload-management tools.
