How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Purchasing Manager

    Ipswich – 2 days working from home offered after 6 months
    Permanent

    Circa £50,000 + up to 10% Bonus + Excellent Benefits

    As the Purchasing Manager you’ll be working within a fast-paced Sales & Purchasing department, where you will be responsible for leading the purchasing function, developing a high-performing team, managing stock and supplier relationships, and ensuring purchasing strategies support wider business objectives.

    We're looking for a confident and approachable Purchasing Manager who enjoys developing people, building strong supplier partnerships and driving continuous improvement.

    Responsibilities as the Purchasing Manager:

    * Lead, motivate and develop the Purchasing team, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement.

    * Take full accountability for the purchasing function, stock control and team output.

    * Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.

    * Manage supplier relationships, negotiate favourable terms and review supplier performance.

    * Oversee stock purchasing from both parent company and third-party suppliers.

    * Manage import procedures and ensure efficient stock availability.

    * Work closely with the Logistics team to coordinate transport, warehouse capacity and incoming stock.

    The successful Purchasing Manager will have:

    * Previous experience in a Purchasing Manager or similar leadership role.

    * Proven experience managing and developing teams within a purchasing or supply chain environment.

    * Knowledge of purchasing, stock management, logistics and transport coordination.

    * Experience of import procedures and supplier management.

    * A successful track record of negotiating with suppliers.

    * Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

    * Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across all areas of the business.
