How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    This is a varied and rewarding leadership role where no two days are the same.
    You'll provide operational oversight across several specialist residential services, working closely with Registered Managers and senior leaders to ensure homes consistently deliver safe, nurturing and high-quality care while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

    You'll oversee a range of specialist services, including:
    šŸ” Emotional Wellbeing Homes
    šŸ” Assessment Services
    šŸ” Family Assessment Provision
    šŸ” Contextual Safeguarding Services
    šŸ” Complex Mental Health Residential Services
    šŸ” Overnight Short Break Services

    You'll be a visible leader within the homes, offering practical support, mentoring managers, responding to operational challenges and driving continuous improvement to help achieve Outstanding outcomes.

    ⭐ Key Responsibilities
    As Operational Children's Services Manager, you will:
    āœ”ļø Lead and support multiple children's residential homes across Leicestershire.
    āœ”ļø Provide operational leadership to Registered Managers and their teams.
    āœ”ļø Ensure homes remain compliant with Ofsted regulations and children's legislation.
    āœ”ļø Coordinate recruitment, staffing and workforce planning.
    āœ”ļø Lead on quality assurance, audits and service improvement.
    āœ”ļø Support services following critical incidents, including debriefing and action planning.
    āœ”ļø Coordinate mandatory training and professional development.
    āœ”ļø Build positive relationships with commissioners, partner agencies and senior stakeholders.
    āœ”ļø Monitor performance, produce operational reports and drive continuous improvement.
    āœ”ļø Step into Registered Manager responsibilities where required, including supporting Ofsted registration during management vacancies.
    āœ”ļø Champion safeguarding, positive outcomes and a culture of excellence across every service.

    We're looking for someone who leads with compassion, confidence and integrity.
    You'll ideally have:
    āœ… Significant management experience within children's residential services.
    āœ… Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and children's legislation.
    āœ… Experience managing or supporting multiple services.
    āœ… Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills.
    āœ… Experience working alongside local authorities, commissioners and multi-agency professionals.
    āœ… Strong organisational, project management and problem-solving abilities.
    āœ… Experience managing budgets, quality assurance and service performance.
    āœ… The confidence to lead during challenging situations and make sound operational decisions.
    āœ… A recognised qualification relevant to children's residential services.
    āœ… A genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
