Housing Enforcement Officer

Principal Housing Enforcement Officer - London - £50 per hour (Umbrella) 

A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Principal Housing Enforcement Officer to lead complex housing enforcement investigations within the private rented sector.
You will manage high-profile enforcement cases, ensuring compliance with housing legislation, licensing requirements and property standards while providing expert advice to colleagues, senior management and partner organisations.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading investigations into complex breaches of housing legislation and licensing conditions.
Inspecting HMOs, licensed properties and privately rented homes to identify hazards and enforcement requirements.
Preparing and serving statutory notices, improvement notices, prohibition orders, civil penalties and other enforcement actions.
Ensuring enforcement decisions are robust, evidence-based and legally compliant.
Providing specialist housing enforcement advice to managers, Members and partner agencies.
Supporting the delivery of effective regulatory and enforcement services.
Essential requirements:

Proven experience in Housing Enforcement within a UK Local Authority.
Strong knowledge of housing legislation, HMO licensing and private sector housing enforcement.
Experience conducting property inspections and managing complex enforcement cases
