How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Mechanical Containment & Framing: Assemble cubicles, framework, desks, cable trays, and ladder racking.

Test Rig Preparation: Assist the hardware team with building, configuring, and testing temporary rigs and client cubicles off-site and on-site.

    Testing, Inspection & Safety Compliance

Electrical Safety Checks: Perform LVD electrical safety checks, earth bond continuity tests, point-to-point wiring checks, insulation resistance tests, high-voltage withstand tests, and system power-ups/fusing functionality checks.

Isolations: Act as an appointed person to complete isolations and work on test rigs.

Quality Assurance: Maintain inspection check sheets (ITP check sheets), identify reworks, and manage issue logs in coordination with Site Managers and design/commissioning engineers.

Site Preparation: Collaborate with the Site Manager/Supervisor to ensure all project deliverables, materials, and tooling are ready for deployment.

    Candidate Profile

    Essential Requirements

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a site-based wireperson.

Sector Background: Proven experience in EC&I (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation) installations, such as Substation Control Systems or Protection Systems, preferably on National Grid sites.

Technical Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and work from circuit diagrams, general assembly prints, wiring schedules, and parts lists.

Travel: Willingness to travel regularly and stay away at client sites across the UK as required.

    Licence: Full UK Driving Licence.

    Desirable Criteria

Formal apprenticeship background with the ability to undertake minor site installation works.

Industry Certifications: National Grid Person status, SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme), 18th Edition BS 7671 wiring regulations, ARC Flash awareness, or PASMA certification.

Safety Training: Impressed Voltages, Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space Awareness, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

    Benefits & What We Offer
