How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Control & Instrumentation Engineer

    Location: Lancashire
    Salary: Up to £60k, DOE
    Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

    Control & Instrumentation Engineer

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join a well-established engineering team delivering a wide range of capital projects within a major industrial manufacturing environment.

    Working across the full project lifecycle, you will be involved in feasibility studies, specification, design, procurement, installation and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take ownership of technically challenging projects while working within a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead and promote high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

    * Produce and review C&I engineering designs, specifications and technical documentation.

    * Develop instrument data sheets, design specifications and test documentation.

    * Produce cable block diagrams, cable schedules, wiring schedules and loop drawings.

    * Specify and support the procurement of control and instrumentation equipment.

    * Manage technical aspects of installation contracts and oversee on-site installation activities.

    * Coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.

    * Commission DCS and instrumentation systems and complete all commissioning documentation.

    * Manage project budgets, schedules and technical deliverables.

    * Provide post-installation technical support for control and instrumentation systems.

    * Drive continuous improvement and engineering best practice throughout project delivery.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * Degree qualified (minimum 2:1) in a relevant engineering discipline.

    * Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership

    * Experience in: DCS design/PLC systems/Hazardous Area installations/Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)/Instrument specification/Detailed engineering design/on-site commissioning/P&IDs/Strong project planning and organisational skills.

    * Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving.

    Desirable Experience

    * Eurotherm DCS.

    * Schneider or Allen Bradley PLC programming.

    * Control panel design.

    * GE iFIX SCADA.

    * Camera and vision systems.

    * PLC and SCADA troubleshooting.

    * Feasibility studies.

    * Project management or project controls.

    * Budget preparation.

    * Experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
