How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Skills Coach - Electrical

    Location: Hull
    Salary: £31,795 FTE + £5,000 Market Supplement
    Hours: Full Time - 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
    Holiday: 31 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over Christmas/New Year)

    Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading further education provider in Hull to recruit a Skills Coach - Electrical. This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional or experienced assessor to support apprentices as they develop the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to succeed in the workplace.

    You'll work closely with apprentices and employers, delivering high-quality coaching, mentoring and workplace assessment while helping learners achieve their apprenticeship standards and progress confidently to End-Point Assessment.

    The Role

    As a Skills Coach, you'll manage your own caseload of apprentices, providing tailored support throughout their learning journey. Working both remotely and on employer sites, you'll ensure every apprentice receives the guidance and encouragement they need to achieve their full potential.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Coaching, mentoring and assessing apprentices working towards Electrical apprenticeship standards.
    Conducting regular progress reviews and maintaining accurate learner records through an online e-portfolio system.
    Preparing apprentices for Gateway and End-Point Assessment, ensuring timely achievement.
    Building strong, professional relationships with employers to support successful apprenticeship delivery.
    Tailoring learning to meet individual apprentice and employer needs.
    Embedding maths, English and employability skills into learning where appropriate.
    Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high-quality provision and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
    Supporting employer engagement activities and identifying opportunities for apprenticeship growth.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who is passionate about developing people and has current industry knowledge.

    You'll ideally have:

    A Level 3 qualification (or above) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
    Significant recent industry experience within the electrical sector.
    Experience supporting, coaching or assessing learners in the workplace.
    An assessor qualification (desirable but not essential).
    Maths and English at Level 2 or above (or willingness to achieve within six months).
    Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, funding rules and End-Point Assessment.
    Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills.
    The ability to manage your own workload and build strong employer relationships.
    A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel to employer sites.
