How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson

    Remote | Flexible Working | Full-Time or Part-Time Considered

HarKaye Core Talent is working with a well-established law firm to recruit an experienced Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong legal aid costing experience who is looking for a genuinely flexible, fully remote role. You will work closely with fee earners across the firm, ensuring legal aid matters are accurately costed and submitted in line with Legal Aid Agency requirements.

    The Role

As a Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson, you will be responsible for:

    • Preparing and submitting legal aid bills through the CCMS.
    • Drafting claims for payment, including escape fee cases.
    • Preparing and managing high-cost case plans.
    • Reviewing files to ensure all chargeable work has been accurately captured.
    • Advising fee earners on legal aid costs, billing requirements and funding rules.
    • Dealing with Legal Aid Agency queries, reductions and rejected claims.
    • Preparing written representations and appeals against costs assessments where appropriate.
    • Monitoring claims and progressing outstanding payments.
    • Ensuring all submissions comply with current Legal Aid Agency guidance and deadlines.
    • Supporting the wider team with costs training and best-practice guidance.

    About You

We are looking for someone who has:

    • Previous experience working as a Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson or Costs Lawyer.
    • Strong knowledge of Legal Aid Agency procedures and funding regulations.
    • Experience using CCMS.
    • The ability to prepare accurate bills and high-cost case plans.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
    • Confidence communicating with fee earners and providing technical costs advice.
    • The ability to manage their own workload effectively while working remotely.

Experience across areas such as public law, family, childcare, housing, community care or claims against public authorities would be advantageous, although applications from all legal aid backgrounds are welcomed.

    What’s on Offer

    • Fully remote working.
    • Flexible working arrangements.
    • Full-time or part-time hours considered.
    • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
    • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
    • The opportunity to join a well-established firm undertaking meaningful legal aid work.

If you are an experienced Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson looking for greater flexibility and a role where your expertise will be genuinely valued, we would love to hear from you.
