š» About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across major public sector programmes.
This is a hands-on role where you'll lead engineering teams, shape technical direction, mentor developers, and help deliver secure, scalable, and accessible digital services. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive engineering excellence and ensure solutions meet the highest standards of performance, security, and usability.

Lead and mentor software engineering teams

Develop applications using TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js
*
Build templates and layouts using Nunjucks or similar templating frameworks
*
Design and deliver cloud-native solutions on AWS
*
Manage containerised workloads using Docker and Amazon EKS
*
Drive CI/CD automation and engineering best practices
*
Champion Test-Driven Development (TDD) and code quality
*
Deliver services aligned to WCAG accessibility standards
*
Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams
*
Contribute to technical strategy and solution architecture
ā Requirements
*
Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js
*
Previous experience leading software engineering teams
*
AWS cloud-native development and architecture
*
Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS
*
CI/CD pipeline development and automation
*
Experience with GitLab and modern software delivery tooling
*
Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
*
Experience with Nunjucks, Twig, Jinja, or similar templating technologies
*
Experience building accessible applications aligned with WCAG standards
*
Experience delivering secure and scalable solutions within complex environments
*
Previous experience working on UK Public Sector projects
