How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Science Technician Required

    Masterclass Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join their Science Department.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working in a practical environment and wants to play an important role in supporting high-quality science education.

    The Role

    As a Science Technician, you will provide essential technical support to teachers and students by preparing practical lessons, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring all resources are ready for use. You will also help maintain a safe, organised, and efficient learning environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Prepare equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical science lessons.

    * Set up and clear away practical experiments safely and efficiently.

    * Maintain, clean, and service laboratory equipment.

    * Ensure chemicals and equipment are stored in accordance with health and safety regulations.

    * Monitor stock levels and order laboratory supplies when required.

    * Dispose of waste materials safely and in line with COSHH guidance.

    * Support teachers with practical demonstrations where appropriate.

    * Keep laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas clean and organised.

    * Assist with risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.

    The Ideal Candidate

    * Previous experience as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment is desirable.

    * A science qualification (GCSE, A-Level, or higher) is advantageous.

    * Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

    * Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    * Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.

    * A genuine interest in supporting young people's education.
