How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Payroll Manager who takes pride in delivering an accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll service? Would you like to join a large, well-established organisation in Hull, with hybrid working, flexible start and finish times and an excellent holiday allowance?

We are supporting this organisation as they look for an experienced and motivated Payroll Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of payroll across the organisation and its subsidiaries. This is a full-time temporary opportunity and would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, supporting a team and continually improving systems and processes.

You will be joining a supportive, team-focused working environment where accuracy, service and collaboration are highly valued.

What the Payroll Manager job involves

As Payroll Manager, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end payroll process, making sure employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining full compliance with statutory requirements, HMRC guidance, GDPR, pension regulations and internal policies.

You will maintain payroll data, process new starters and leavers, calculate statutory and occupational payments and produce payslips and statutory documentation, including P45s, P60s and P11Ds.

You will also reconcile payroll accounts each month and complete year-end reporting for HMRC and pension bodies.

Acting as the lead contact for pension providers, you will oversee pension administration and auto-enrolment responsibilities, administer employee benefits through payroll and support internal and external audits.

A key part of the role will be protecting the integrity and security of payroll systems while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen processes and encourage greater employee self-service.

You will also contribute to a positive and inclusive working environment and support safeguarding responsibilities in line with the organisation’s values.

    Skills required

Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and statutory guidance relating to employee deductions and entitlements.

Experience of managing an end-to-end payroll service and consistently meeting strict deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a helpful and customer-focused approach.

The ability to prioritise a varied workload, work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.

A proactive approach to compliance, accuracy, problem-solving and continuous improvement.

    Other information

    Full-time, temporary position 37 hours a week.

Based in Hull, with hybrid working available.

Flexibility around start and finish times.

Enhanced annual leave, including bank holidays.

    Supportive, team-focused working environment.
