How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Java Developer | Enterprise Applications | Agile Delivery

    We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer Contractor to join a high-profile technology delivery programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise-scale applications within a collaborative Agile environment.
    The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions, working closely with Architects, Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA teams, and DevOps engineers. You'll be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, helping to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions that support critical business outcomes.

    The Role

    As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining backend services, APIs, and enterprise applications while contributing to modern software engineering practices, Agile delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    This role is ideal for a hands-on developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable systems, and working in a fast-paced project environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
    Translate business and technical requirements into clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
    Develop backend services, RESTful APIs, and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
    Build and enhance solutions using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, and microservices architectures.
    Work closely with Architects, Business Analysts, QA teams, Product Owners, and DevOps engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
    Participate in code reviews and promote coding best practices and quality standards.
    Support unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and defect resolution activities.
    Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
    Support CI/CD delivery processes and automated deployment pipelines.
    Produce and maintain technical documentation where required.
    Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to application stability, performance, and reliability.
    Contribute to continuous improvement and software engineering best practices.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Proven experience as a Java Developer, Backend Developer, or Full Stack Developer.
    Strong hands-on development experience with Java and object-oriented programming principles.
    Experience building applications using:
    Spring Boot
    Spring MVC
    RESTful APIs
    Microservices
    Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
    Experience working with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
    Experience using Git, Bitbucket, or similar version control platforms.
    Familiarity with Maven or Gradle build and dependency management tools.
    Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
    Previous experience working within Agile environments.
    Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
