How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Civil Resident Engineer
    Location: Vanguard West, Norfolk (PE37 8EG)
    Start Date: 17th August 2026
    Duration: Until 31st August 2027
    Rate: £359.55 per day
    Hours: 50 hours per week

    Search Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Resident Engineer to join a major transmission infrastructure project at Vanguard West.

    This is an excellent long-term opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional with a strong background in high-voltage substations and the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

    The Role:

    Manage the technical aspects of civil construction from design review through to site execution.
    Supervise subcontractors and oversee the daily progress of civil works.
    Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification.
    Lead all quality activities, including ITPs, inspection records, audits and the management of NCRs.
    Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and logistics.
    Resolve on-site engineering and technical issues.
    Ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications and industry standards.
    Maintain accurate quality and project documentation.
    Support project planning, engineering control and resource management.
    Promote the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.Essential Requirements

    Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Civil Resident Engineer or similar senior civil engineering role.
    Strong background working on high-voltage substation or transmission projects.
    Experience managing projects through to successful completion and close-out.
    HNC or HND in Civil Engineering.
    CSCS Card or CCNSG Safety Passport.
    IPAF.
    First Aid.
    Manual Handling.
    Good working knowledge of modern construction methods and the Specification for Highway Works (SHW).
    Proficient with Microsoft Office and other IT systems.The Role Offers:

    £359.55 per day.
    Outside IR35.
    50-hour working week.
    Weekly timesheets.
    Long-term contract through to August 2027.
