How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Handyperson / Maintenance Operative - Swindon

    Location: Swindon and surrounding areas (covering approximately a 60-90 minute radius)
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week
    Contract: Temp to Perm opportunity

    Our client is looking for a Skilled Labourer / Maintenance Operative to join their responsive repairs team, carrying out general maintenance and repair works within occupied social housing properties.

    The Role

    You'll be carrying out a variety of responsive maintenance and repair works within occupied properties, supporting the wider repairs team to ensure customers receive an excellent service.

    Duties include:

    General maintenance and repair works within residential properties
    Basic joinery repairs including doors, windows, kitchens and bathrooms
    Basic plumbing repairs including taps, basins, baths, showers and sanitary ware
    Basic patch plastering
    Painting and decorating (desirable but not essential)
    Keeping work areas clean and removing waste materials
    Using a PDA to manage and complete job tickets
    Following health and safety procedures at all times
    Providing a professional and customer-focused service while working in tenants' homes
    Keeping job records and systems up to date

    About You

    We're looking for someone with:

    Previous experience as a Skilled Labourer, Maintenance Operative or in a general property maintenance role
    Experience carrying out general maintenance and basic trade works
    A good understanding of basic joinery, plumbing and repair tasks
    A customer-focused approach with good communication skills
    The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
    A full UK driving licenceA DBS check will be required for this role
