How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Secondary Teachers
    Location: Basingstoke
    Salary: £150 - £260 per day (Depending on experience)
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Daily Supply / Long Term

    GSL Education is looking for experienced Secondary Teachers to work at some of the outstanding secondary schools in Basingstoke. If you are a passionate and dedicated Secondary Teacher looking for flexible daily supply work or a rewarding long-term opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

    As a Secondary Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire young people, deliver engaging lessons, and make a real difference in the classroom. Whether you are an experienced Secondary Teacher or a confident education professional with strong classroom experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to join supportive schools that value high-quality teaching.

    Responsibilities:

    Deliver engaging and well-planned lessons across your specialist subject.
    Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
    Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
    Assess, monitor and support student progress.
    Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of different learners.
    Work closely with colleagues and school staff to support student achievement.
    Maintain accurate records and provide feedback where required.
    Follow all school policies and procedures at all times.
    Requirements:

    Previous experience working as a Secondary Teacher in UK secondary schools.
    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
    Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
    A flexible, reliable and professional approach.
    A genuine passion for teaching and helping students achieve their full potential.
    An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
