How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant

    Location: Basingstoke
    Salary: £100 - £130 per day
    Start Date: Sep 2026
    Contract: Daily/Long Term Supply

    GSL Education is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work at some of the outstanding schools in Basingstoke. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN TA who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

    As a SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. Whether you are looking for daily supply or a long-term role, this SEN Teaching Assistant position offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to make a real difference every day.

    Responsibilities

    Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
    Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
    Support pupils with their learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
    Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
    Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
    Help pupils build confidence, independence, and communication skills.
    Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and other professionals.
    Record and report pupil progress where required.
    Requirements

    Previous experience working as a SEN TA or supporting children with special educational needs.
    A caring, patient, and positive approach to working with children.
    Good communication and teamwork skills.
    The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
    A good understanding of different special educational needs and effective support strategies.
    The ability to remain calm and flexible in a busy school environment.
    Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEN are desirable but not essential.
