How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Looking for a career where you can genuinely change lives?

Join one of the UK's longest-established children's charities, with over 150 years of supporting children, young people and families. Our mission has always been simple - to ensure every child has the opportunity to feel safe, valued and reach their full potential. We're looking for compassionate and committed Residential Children & Young Peoples Workers for our nurturing and beautifully designed residential home supporting children and young people aged 8-18 with complex needs and behaviours. With accommodation for up to three children & young people, the home offers a safe and enriching environment where young people can build friendships, explore new experiences, and develop confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.

What you'll be doing. Every day brings something different. You'll:
✨ Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence and well-being.
✨ Work collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals.
✨ Support the upkeep of the home, including domestic tasks.
✨ Accurately document and maintain records.
✨ Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
✨ Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive environment overnight.

    We're looking for someone who:
    Is a driver.
Holds (or is willing to work towards) a Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
Be motivated to make a positive impact in young people's lives.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Be willing to attend mandatory training, group supervision, and consultation sessions during daytime hours (with advance notice).
Previous experience working with children and young people is desirable, but not essential - we welcome applicants with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
Is flexible to work shifts, sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays.

    Why join us:
For more than 150 years, we've been changing childhoods and changing lives by putting children first. Our work is built on the belief that every child deserves the best possible start in life, regardless of their background or circumstances.

When you join us, you'll benefit from:
💷 Excellent pension with employer contributions
🌴 Up to 30 days annual leave, plus the option to buy 5 extra days
❤️ Health Cash Plan & Employee Assistance Programme
🛍️ Discounts at hundreds of retailers, supermarkets, cinemas and gyms
    🚲 Cycle to Work Scheme
📚 Outstanding learning, development and career progression opportunities
🏪 Staff discount in our nationwide charity shops
