Training Officer
Location : Birmingham
Smart4Sciences is partnering with a fast-growing pharmaceutical manufacturer to recruit a Training Officer for their Birmingham site.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Quality, you will lead the site's training programme, ensuring all employees are competent and fully compliant with GMP, MHRA, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
You'll be responsible for maintaining inspection-ready training records, delivering and coordinating training across the site, assessing competency, and driving continuous improvement to support a strong culture of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and maintain the site-wide training matrix and role-specific training programmes.
Deliver GMP induction training to new starters, contractors and visitors.
Coordinate refresher, requalification and departmental training programmes.
Maintain accurate, audit-ready training records and competency documentation.
Assess training effectiveness through competency assessments and practical evaluations.
Ensure training is completed following new or revised SOPs, change controls and document updates.
Monitor training compliance, proactively managing overdue or expired training.
Produce and present training KPIs and compliance metrics for Quality Management Reviews.
Support investigations into deviations, CAPAs, non-conformances and complaints where training has been identified as a contributing factor.
Support internal audits and regulatory inspections, including MHRA inspections.
Maintain training documentation in line with document control procedures.
Keep training materials aligned with current GMP regulations, MHRA guidance and internal procedures.
Promote a positive quality and compliance culture across the business.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience within a Training, Quality Assurance or Quality Systems role in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare manufacturing environment.
Good understanding of GMP, MHRA regulations and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Experience delivering training or coordinating learning programmes.
Experience maintaining training records and competency assessments.
Knowledge of SOP management and document control.
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the confidence to train employees at all levels.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable
Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Quality, HR/Learning & Development or a related discipline.
Formal training or teaching qualification.
Experience supporting MHRA inspections and internal or external audits.
Experience using electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS) or Learning Management Systems (LMS).Other requirements
* Willingness to work occasional non-standard hours to support shift-based or out-of-hours training
delivery.
* Compliance with all site health & safety, GMP, and data integrity requirements at all times.
